Vaisala launches Care services to help data centers maintain measurement accuracy at scale

Growing data centers require a new approach to managing measurement performance. Driven by AI, cloud infrastructure and digital services, facilities are becoming larger and more complex, creating new challenges in maintaining the accuracy of measurements that help support cooling performance, energy efficiency and uptime.

To help address this challenge, Vaisala, a global leader in measurement instruments and intelligence, today launched Vaisala Care for Data Centers. The new service portfolio helps operators maintain measurement accuracy, operational reliability and uptime throughout the lifecycle of their measurement systems.

AI-driven growth is turning measurement accuracy into an operational challenge

Data centers depend on accurate environmental measurements to support cooling performance, energy efficiency, operational reliability and uptime objectives. A single facility may contain hundreds of instruments monitoring numerous parameters, creating an ongoing need for calibration, verification and documentation. 

As facilities continue to grow, maintaining measurement performance becomes increasingly complex. Even small measurement deviations can affect cooling efficiency, increase operational risks and impact service continuity.

"The data center world runs on uptime. Even a minor measurement drift in humidity or temperature can cascade into cooling failures, hardware damage, or downtime. The cost of getting it wrong can be significant," says Jonatan Hongisto, Director of Industrial Measurements’ Service Portfolio at Vaisala.

“As facilities grow, operators need a structured way to manage measurement performance and lifecycle support across hundreds of instruments. Accurate measurements are business-critical but maintaining them consistently over time has become increasingly difficult as data centers grow in size and complexity.”

From calibration services to long-term measurement support

Vaisala Care for Data Centers is designed to provide a structured approach to calibration, verification and long-term measurement support across the facility lifecycle.

The portfolio includes three offerings; Vaisala Care, Vaisala Care+, and Vaisala Commissioning Care, with service options ranging from accredited calibration, replacement probe pools and expert support to on-site services and commissioning-phase calibration documentation.

Unlike traditional service models focused on individual instruments, agreed verification scopes may also include selected third-party measurement devices, helping operators simplify measurement management across the facility.

"We're moving beyond individual service transactions toward a long-term partnership in helping customers maintain measurement performance," Hongisto says.

"The goal is to help customers maintain confidence in their measurements while supporting cooling performance, operational reliability and uptime of their facilities."

Tailored to data center operations

The service concept aligns closely with Vaisala's measurement product architecture, including solutions from Indigo, Origo and compact probe portfolios. Pre-calibrated probes can be exchanged quickly, helping reduce maintenance effort and minimize disruption in live operating environments.

The portfolio includes remote and on-site service options as well as commissioning-phase calibration and handover documentation for new facilities, allowing operators to choose the service model that best fits their operational requirements.
